AI Tools to Make Recruitment More Fair

Having headaches about the talent-starved market and worried about unconscious bias making your recruitment process less effective? AI may provide the much-needed aspirin.

PageUp recently inked a new partnership with AI startup PredictiveHire to help Australian HR teams to hire faster and better. The new partnership will also tackle bias in the recruitment process.

"We'll be using their sophisticated and emerging technology to increase the speed and accuracy with which companies can recruit top candidates," said Karen Cariss, chief executive officer and founder of PageUp.

Clients can now use PredictiveHire's AI technology to conduct the first level of screening for job applications. It will allow for faster, more objective hiring decisions based on data and trends drawn from historically high-performers, said the press release.
PredictiveHire will leverage a company's performance data and staff surveys to determine, with 88 percent accuracy, the traits which are inherent in its high performers. This data is then transformed into a candidate survey that recruitment managers can use to screen candidates. Since launching in 2013, the platform has already helped hire over 8,000 people across its customer base in the U.K. and Australia.

The new partnership also addresses challenges in driving diversity in recruitment. According to McKinsey & Company, gender diverse companies are up to 21 percent more likely to experience above-average profitability than those who aren't, while culturally diverse companies are up to 33 percent more likely to outperform their less diverse counterparts. Such figures is getting HR leaders and talent manager to take diversity and inclusivity much more seriously.

PageUp's partnership with PredictiveHire empowers companies to remove bias and enable diversity during recruitment. "Unconscious bias has long been part of the hiring process, and now we have the means to eliminate it," said Barb Hyman, chief executive officer, PredictiveHire.

"People are an organization's most valuable asset. The best way to achieve business transformation is to change your hiring practices. This tool will empower hiring managers across the country to clearly pinpoint those soft skills that can determine success in any role," he added.
